Kul8t! (pronounced “koo-late”) is a mobile app I designed as my college thesis to support home-based math tutoring between Filipino parents and their young children. Many parents want to help with homework but face real challenges: limited time, outdated methods, and language barriers, especially since math is taught in English, but often discussed in Filipino at home. Add to that math’s reputation for being intimidating, and the learning experience can feel frustrating for both sides.
The goal was to create an app that makes tutoring easier for parents and more engaging for kids. Designed specifically for Filipino households, Kul8t! uses culturally relevant visuals (like a sari-sari store), a gamified reward system, and age-appropriate word problems to encourage learning. The app also includes a “Parents’ Corner” to track progress and share tips, bridging the gap between generations and making math feel more approachable — and even fun.
